The Friends of the Maspeth Library are a group of volunteers raising money for the Maspeth Library, advocating for the Maspeth Library, and hosting programs, classes, and events to support the Maspeth Library, and to enrich our community. To support your local Maspeth Library, please like our Facebook and Twitter page under “Maspeth Library Friends.”
The Friends of the Maspeth Library enjoy our 501c3 Status under the umbrella of the Queens Public Library, making all donations tax-deductible. We would be very grateful for your support.
Basic Membership is $5 and Full Membership is only $25. To become a member, please visit: http://www.queenslibrary.org/support-the-library/friends/become-a-member.
Our group was officially chartered on Thursday, March 19th, and after working hard manning tables at several summer events, we are over 50 members strong. No matter where you live, the Maspeth Library Friends would appreciate your membership and support. If anyone from Middle Village or Glendale is interested in starting a Friends Group, please feel free to contact the President of the Friends of the Maspeth Library at crystalwolfe1@gmail.com.
GOALS: We are working to raise enough money to purchase new blinds for the Maspeth Library, as well to input some Wi-Fi outlets in desks/tables, so that the community can sit at the tables in the library and get on the Internet with their own laptops, instead of having to wait to get on the Maspeth Library’s computers. We are getting price quotes for these welcome additions, but we will likely need to raise thousands of dollars for these improvements.
We need the support from the community to raise these funds for the Maspeth Library’s needs. We are also advocating for the Maspeth Library to receive a remodel, and much needed new roof. We are working to host events year-round at the Maspeth Library that will benefit the community.
All of our meetings are open to the public. We invite the community to attend our meetings, to share their ideas for events to enrich the district, to become a member, give a tax-deductible donation, or to lend a hand.
