(Newtown, L. I., March 25) Deputy Sheriff Jacob Mollinett of Maspeth was assaulted last evening while walking on Flushing Avenue, near the old race track, and nearly opposite Suhr’s Flushing Avenue Park. Four men demanded his money and, as Mollinett turned to run away, they caught hold of him and commenced to belabor him with clubs and sticks. The deputy sheriff called for help and Constable David Holdsworth responded. After using his club freely, he succeeded in getting the handcuffs upon the men and arresting them. They were taken to the Newtown jail and arraigned before Justice of the Peace Schumacher, who held them for the grand jury.
