In February, Governor Cuomo’s aide Melissa DeRosa admitted to Democratic lawmakers that the administration hid COVID nursing home data because they were afraid that Trump’s Department of Justice would use it against them. But when word of that got to Biden’s DOJ, they opened an investigation anyway, as did the FBI, and all of this may result in criminal charges. Attorney General Letitia James found that nursing home deaths in New York were underreported by 50% in late January because many residents had died after being transferred to hospitals. The response from the governor at the time was “But who cares — 33 [percent], 28 [percent] — died in the hospital, died in a nursing home? They died.” It then was revealed that for years Cuomo has been bullying elected officials, the press and basically anyone that crosses him. Now he’s been stripped of the emergency powers granted to him by the legislature last year at the dawn of COVID and multiple former aides have accused him of sexual harrassment. There are also calls for his impeachment. The moral of the story is always be transparent and don’t be a jerk.
