The NYC Sheriff busted up a New Year’s party around 2 a.m. on Jan. 1, at 55-30 58th St. in Maspeth. About 300 people were in attendance in a location that had years ago been shut down for liquor license violations, drug selling, gambling and other crimes. Then sheriff’s deputies broke up another party attended by 165 people at 50-00 Grand Ave., on February 7, around 2 a.m. Arrests were made. Besides being a dangerous and irresponsible undertaking during a pandemic, most of these underground parties take place in locations that are generally unsafe for mass gatherings at any time.
