We appreciate when Parks Dept workers clean up, cut grass and pull weeds, especially on hot summer days. However, we expect them to clean up after themselves as well. So, the condition of the Sitting Area at 58th Rd and 73rd Street in Maspeth is unacceptable. The grass was cut July 24th and a mess left behind. The Parks Dept was notified but as we go to press, nothing had been cleaned. We’re all for citizen activism with regard to cleaning up the neighborhood, but this should not be necessary in this case. Most of us were taught growing up that if you make a mess, you clean it up. We don’t think it’s asking too much for park workers to do the same.
