We pay hundreds of millions for homeless services, supportive housing, and mental health care and this is the result, with a fare hike looming. ... See MoreSee Less

60% of homeless people are kids that aged out of foster care.

The fare pays for service not fixing homelessness. Homelessness is a city issue not an MTA issue.

Don't worry mamdani is going to allow them to live in the subway system

Problem being this is a mental health issue and you can’t force someone to stay in a facility against their will

The collapse of what was once the greatest city. Heartbreaking

I would not call this the "new" Middle Village since I have been getting the M train at the Metropolitan Avenue station for about 25 years and unfortunately I have seen this many, many times. But hey, the NYC Department of Homeless Services "only" has a budget of $2.64 billion - you don't expect results with such a minuscule budget do you??

It was never this bad when I took the train daily from 1996-2015. They may have had bad luck, but they shouldn’t be allowed to live on the trains. But Mamdani will fix it I’m sure.

And why is there a fare hike looming? They did away with token clerks to save money, they implemented the Metrocard to save money, they brought in the OMNY card to save money. They tacked on a one dollar fee to every metro card and then it expires after a year. What did they do with all this money? Why not advertise on the trains like they used to, instead of using these spaces as public service announcements.

Not ok..

Sad. We need a mayor who cares about people not lining their pockets. City council needs to be revamped too. They are doing nothing but hurting the boroughs.

We get a small fraction of what we pay for in NYC

There is an existing abandoned tunnel that is currently being used by infrastructure as shops.

So do you really believe this project is going to happen? Maybe it's another way to add low cost and cheaply construction housing.

So use this to oppose it

Early estimate of property destruction. When you ask where, they can't answer. If they already have addresses for Ridgewood historic district locations that will be affected, they can provide the rest... See MoreSee Less

I’d like to know what is meant by “partial acquisition” of private property and, by law, what is the minimum distance mandate between someone’s home and the actual train tracks. Might some people have trains running 20 feet from their homes???

How can the acquire cemeteries?

Parcels in the cemetery as well

How do we make sure we're appropriately compensated for property acquisition? If developers are building high rises, we should demand a portion of that profit

We won't know anything until specific properties are identified.

Unbelievable!

Thank you for all the information you’ve been actively posting about this everyday. This whole thing will be a debacle for anyone who has grown up in Middle Village and trying to raise the next generation of their family here.

Mamdani will be elected for the same reason Trump was elected. Namely, promising the world to ignorant voters who don't have the discretion to know that smoke is being blown up their lower orifice.

It's the destruction of the conservative neighborhoods. That's what they want

Not condoning any of this. Just stating a sad fact. We the People who elect these idiots are just tools and have no say. The constant loss of historical locations is nothing new especially here in Queens the Landmarks and preservation department of the city is constantly looks the other way and drags their feet saving our historic buildings/places. It’s vile. I’m certain that Landmarks and Preservation department get some big under the table money for not creating new landmarks. So many lost history that should have been saved like Saint Saviors, The RKO Keith’s, the Trylon, houses all over Middle Village, Neiderstein’s, and so on The worse part now is that especially the developers private/corporate or city just do what ever they want cause they throw their money around, worse still they don’t even pay taxes, and have stopped listening to We the People. The passage of the rotten city of yes proves that the entire city has been bought and paid for by billionaire both domestic and international! Add in that elite million dollar think tank that the city pays big bucks for to come up with these brilliant, ideas doesn’t even live anywhere near where the areas they are destroying with these changes!

Wake up New York let me tell you why this happened (mamdami), INDOCTRINATED COLLEGE TRANSPLANTS! These jerkoffs are the only ones that go out and vote! You lazy self absorbed New Yorkers just sit home and do not vote! By claiming "I do not like anybody so screw it" is a massive problem across the country! This is how things like this happens! Look at the numbers, less then 10% of New Yorkers vote in a city of nearly 9 million! Reep what you sow! GENTRIFICATION IS THE DOWNFALL OF NYC! And crooked politicians love it and cator to them for votes to keep themselves in power!

"Let's destroy the Ridgewood Historic District so we can get to Brownsville faster!" said no one, ever. ... See MoreSee Less

They did say we can now get to the number 7, LIRR in Woodside, and to parts of Brooklyn that don't require 2-3 trains, going thru Manhattan.

This says it's an impact analysis, so not a design plan necessarily. Maybe provide the link to the entire document so people can see this paragraph in its full context.

Wrote a blank check to the MTA whydon'tya?

Did they just name some of the addresses they are going to seize under eminent domain?

I can’t find the full article, may someone please post the link. Thank you.

Preliminary and not enough details.

That's great

Freight tracks by Wilson L train and cypress Seneca to 68 Park you'll see them starting construction 🚧🏗️ for this new train crap

They've already destroyed most of the city with their "improvements" so this is inevitable

Good... only mention Brownsville and not the other parts of Brooklyn that would be accessible. Let's stoke some racial fears to get what we want, instead of having a rational conversation on this proposal.

Say no to the INTERBORO GRANIMAL EXPRESS TRAIN
